Lodestar: Astrology & Charts

Answers from your real birth chart.

Lodestar calculates your chart on your iPhone. Ask about love, work or your day, and every answer shows the placements it rests on.

Calculated, never guessed, and always showing why.

Coming soon to the App Store

For iPhone with iOS 17 or later, in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

A lodestar is the star sailors steered by, usually Polaris.

A guide, not a forecast.

What’s inside

Astrology from your real chart, worked out from when and where you were born, with every reading and answer showing what it was written from.

  • Today

A daily reading from today’s sky and your chart, with “Why this reading”: the transits and sky events it was written from, each one a tap away. Then the Moon, and what’s coming up in the sky.

  • Ask

Ask about love, friends, work, family or your day, in your own words. Answers come from your chart, today’s sky and the people you’ve added, and show the placements they used. For adults.

  • Your chart

Your big three, a chart wheel and every placement, aspect and house, each explained in plain words, in Placidus or Whole Sign houses. No birth time? No rising sign it can’t know.

  • People

Add the people in your life, with their permission, to see where your charts flow and where they rub, and ask about them. Compatibility readings come with Lodestar Pro.

  • The sky calendar

New and full moons, eclipses, retrogrades and the Sun entering each sign over the next 90 days, at the times they happen where you are.

  • Widgets and reminders

The Moon on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, and your daily reading’s headline on your Home Screen. One notification a day at most, at the time you choose, with nothing personal on your Lock Screen.

Calculated, never guessed

Lodestar works out your chart on your iPhone, from your birth date, time and place, reading your birth time with the time zone in force where and when you were born. In our tests, its planet positions match the Swiss Ephemeris, the ephemeris much astrology software is built on, to within half an arcminute.

Readings and Ask’s answers are written by AI from those calculated facts, and each one shows the placements and transits it used. AI can still get things wrong, so every reading and every answer in Ask has a Report button, and the Lodestar team reads every report.

Lodestar is for reflection and entertainment. It doesn’t predict the future, and it isn’t a substitute for professional advice.

Your privacy

  • No ads, and we never sell your data.
  • Lodestar finds your birthplace in a list of places on your iPhone, so it never asks for your location.
  • For readings and Ask, our AI provider receives your chart’s placements, today’s sky, your questions and the nicknames and placements of people you’ve added, with a coded ID: never your birth date, time or place, your name or your email.
  • Your birth details, the people you add and your Pro readings are saved to your Lodestar account, so they come back when you sign in on a new iPhone. Your Ask conversation stays on your iPhone.
  • Analytics, linked to your account and including your IP address and approximate location, help us improve Lodestar. You can turn them off in Settings › Privacy.
