Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Lodestar: Astrology & Charts · Effective

Lodestar doesn’t ask about your health. But the questions you write in Ask can mention it, or someone else’s. Some US state laws, such as Washington’s My Health My Data Act and Nevada’s consumer health data law, call that consumer health data. This policy says how Dogs in Boots, LLC (“we”) handles it: what we collect and why, where it comes from, who receives it, and how to use your rights. It adds to our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else Lodestar collects.

What we collect, and why

What you write in Ask
Your questions, and the earlier questions and answers in that conversation, may describe an illness, medicine, grief or thoughts of suicide or self-harm. Once you’ve agreed to AI, Lodestar sends them through our server to Anthropic, only to answer you. To answer safely, our server and the AI look for words of pain, danger or medicine in each question, so that the reply can show crisis lines or suggest talking with a doctor. Our servers don’t keep your questions, the answers or what that check found, except as below.
Lodestar’s record of its crisis response
When our server gives Lodestar’s own crisis response instead of an answer, the record of your allowance shows it, with your account ID, because that response doesn’t count toward your allowance the first 3 times in any 24 hours. We delete the record after 7 days.
Reports you choose to send
If you report a reply in Ask and choose to include your question and the reply, we receive them with your account ID, to find and fix problems in Ask. Each report is deleted after 90 days at most, or sooner if you delete your account.
Emails you send us
If you mention your health when you email us, we use it only to help you.

A question that says in plain words that you may be in danger never leaves your iPhone (see If you need someone to talk to). Your Ask conversation stays on your iPhone too, outside backups, for up to 30 days after your last question, and starting a new conversation deletes it. Analytics never include what you write in Ask, and we never use health data for advertising.

Where it comes from

From you: what you write in Ask, the reports you choose to send and the emails you send us. Our server adds the record of Lodestar’s crisis response.

Who receives it

Anthropic
Our AI provider writes Ask’s answers. With your question, it receives the topic you picked, the earlier questions and answers in that conversation, your chart’s facts, today’s sky, and the nicknames and chart facts of people you added, with a coded ID that doesn’t tell it who you are, and processes them in the United States. It doesn’t use them to train its models, and it deletes them within 30 days. If Anthropic’s safety systems flag a question, Anthropic may keep it for its own safety work, under US law: the question for up to 2 years, and its safety classification scores for up to 7 years.
Supabase
Hosts our servers, so it stores the record and the reports above.
Google
Hosts our email, including the emails you send us.

We don’t sell consumer health data. Beyond these companies, we disclose it only as our Privacy Policy says: if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. We don’t let other companies collect information about what you do across other apps and websites over time through Lodestar or this website.

Your rights

To make a request, email lodestar@nookpages.com from your Lodestar account’s email address, so that we give your data only to you. An account that never signed in has no email address: delete it in Settings › Delete account. We reply within the time the law requires. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and if you’re still not satisfied, you can contact your state’s attorney general. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know in Lodestar or on this page before it takes effect, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
